About the Internship
At the completion of the principalship licensure program, the candidate completes a 2-semester internship for 6 credits.
Responsibilities of the Cooperating Field Administrator
Typically, the principal candidate identifies an administrator within their work environment who can serve as the internship mentor or Cooperating Field Administrator. Expectations regarding the role of the mentor include the following:
- The CFA cooperatively develops the internship experiences plan with the intern and the University advisor.
- The CFA assists the intern with implementation of the internship plan.
- The CFA confers with the University advisor every four to six weeks about the intern’s progress.
- The CFA periodically engages in dialogues with the intern and in that dialogue encourages and assists the intern in reflecting on the internship experiences.
