The Office of Civic Engagement and Leadership Programs in the Department of Student Life seeks to connect students to the City of Akron and Summit County through volunteer and community service opportunities through serveAkron, provide election preparation and education through Zips Vote, and increase leadership skills and abilities through individual and group leadership consultations.
Highlighted Programs
ServeAkron provides a wide variety of volunteer and service projects to fit all interests. This includes on campus Drop In Service projects, off campus projects and events, campus wide traditions like Make a Difference Day, and service trips. If you see a hand, you can lend a hand!
Zips Vote is a student driven coalition that seeks to increase voter engagement in all elections for all eligible Zips. We provide voter registration, election education, and volunteer information to get involved in elections with an emphasis on Summit County and Cuyahoga County.
No matter where you are in your life as a Zip, growth is a pivotal part of your college experience. CELP provides individual and group consultations for students seeking to gain insight into their leadership style, how to best use current talents to excel as a leader and set organizations up for sustainable success.
ÐãÉ«¶ÌÊÓƵ Remembrance Day is an annual tradition in April that honors the lives of Zips lost over the previous academic year. What began in 2016 to memorialize the loss of students Duncan Unternhaher and Zak Husein, ÐãÉ«¶ÌÊÓƵ Remembrance Day has become a time to remember loved ones lost through service.
