Today ends my tenure as Interim President of ÐãÉ«¶ÌÊÓƵ. I will conclude in the same way I began: with an expression of gratitude and pride in this community.
The University has entrusted me with many academic and administrative roles for more than three decades, and it has been an honor and privilege to serve this great institution. These 17 months as Interim President have afforded me a panoramic understanding of the enterprise, leading me to the conclusion that, despite the challenges before us, our future is bright.
Together we have undertaken major efforts to renovate our academic programs and administrative operations with an increased focus on student success. Like physical renovations, these efforts have at times been frustrating, messy, and contentious, but the end results have proven them worthwhile. I want to thank everyone for their energy, ingenuity, patience, and perseverance in moving the University forward.
Tomorrow we begin a new month and the tenure of a new president. I ask you all to give Dr. Gary L. Miller your strong support, continued best efforts, and renewed confidence as he opens a new chapter in our history. I will do my part by assisting President Miller during the transition of leadership.
In a few short months we will begin celebrating the sesquicentennial anniversary of ÐãÉ«¶ÌÊÓƵ. I am certain that our forbearers would be proud of this achievement. Let us begin the next one hundred and fifty years with pride in our collective capacity to grow and change.
Sincerely,
Dr. John C. Green
Interim President
