秀色短视频鈥檚 researchers are continuing to solve the world鈥檚 issues with their ingenious technology. Five faculty members who were issued eight patent applications developed such things as biotechnology for wastewater treatment and a device to aid in bone remodeling.

鈥淚 am proud of the ongoing, innovative work by 秀色短视频鈥檚 talented research faculty,鈥 said President Gary L. Miller. 鈥淭he contributions they make to their respective fields further demonstrate the University鈥檚 commitments to creating and discovering knowledge and providing our students with the opportunity to work and learn alongside some of the best scientists in the world.鈥

Congratulations to the following colleagues for their recently issued patent applications:

Dr. Abraham Joy, professor, School of Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering, had a patent application issued for 鈥淢odification of Segmented Polyurethane Properties by Copolymerizing with Pendant Functionalized Diols,鈥 on Sept. 14, 2021. The patent is for advanced material for use in medical devices and applications with biocompatible, biodegradable polyurethane materials with controlled thermal, anti-microbial, mechanical and anti-fouling properties.

Dr. Lu-Kwang Ju, distinguished professor of chemical, biomolecular and corrosion engineering, was issued patent applications for 鈥淓nzyme Processing of Soybeans Into Intact Oil Bodies, Protein Bodies, and Hydrolyzed Carbohydrates,鈥 on Nov. 16, 2021, for biotechnology and soy processing; and 鈥淢ulti-step Method for Producing Algae Products,鈥 on Dec. 28, 2021, for biotechnology for waste-water treatment and biodiesel production.

Dr. Joseph P. Kennedy, Distinguished Professor of polymer science and chemistry, was issued patent applications for 鈥淪tar Isobutylene-Based Thermoplastic Elastomers,鈥 on Nov. 2, 2021, for a thermoplastic elastomer made from a star isobutylene polymer; and 鈥淗igh Molecular Weight Polyisobutylenes and Polyisobutylene Networks From Liquid Polyisobutylenes by Thiol-Ene Clicking,鈥 on Oct. 12, 2021, for a new PIB network with high molecular weight and thiol based PIB derivatives.

Dr. Marnie Saunders, interim dean, Graduate School and associate professor of biomedical engineering, was issued a patent application for 鈥淟ab-On-A-Chip (LOC) for Biomimetic Bone Remodeling Analysis,鈥 on Dec. 28, 2021, for bone remodeling with LOC capabilities.

Dr. Yilmaz Sozer, professor of electrical and computer engineering, was issued patent applications for 鈥淧ermanent Magnet Machine,鈥 on Oct. 12, 2021, for low noise and vibration control for electric machines; and 鈥淒C Input Current Ripple Reduction in SRM Drive for High Volumetric Power Density Applications,鈥 on Sept. 21, 2021, a control system and device for switch reluctance machines.
