Lehman, Jacqueline Campbell Nursing Scholarship
The Jacqueline Campbell Lehman Nursing Scholarship was established in 2008 by her family following Jacqueline's untimely death. Jacqueline was a caring nurse. She and her twin sister, Joyce, graduated from St. Luke's School of Nursing in 1963. They were the first set of twins to graduate from the program. After graduation, Jacqueline worked for St. Luke's Hospital, in Cleveland. She put her nursing career on hold to raise her four children. In 1983, she returned to nursing as a volunteer for the American Red Cross. In 1994, she began working at the Barberton Community Health Clinic where she served as a nurse and administrator for over ten years.
In the fall of 2007, Jacqueline was diagnosed with a brain tumor. She passed away five months later at the Justin T. Rogers Hospice Care Center. Jacqueline's loving family, her mother, her sister, her four children, and their father established this scholarship to honor Jacqueline's service as a nurse, her commitment to community health, and the compassion she received from Hospice.
The Jacqueline Campbell Lehman Nursing Scholarship is to be used in support of a student attending The University of Akron's College of Nursing. The recipient should interested in community health care or hospice. Students who are enrolled in the accelerated BSN nursing program are also eligible. Recipients are selected based on their dedication to the profession, demonstration of nursing values, and contributions to the community. Recipients will be selected by the Office of Student Affairs in the College of Nursing in collaboration with Jacqueline's family.
