Hurd, Herbert and Lorna Scholarship for Instrumental Music Students

The Herbert and Lorna Hurd Scholarship for Instrumental Music Students was formally established in 2017 by generous arts patrons, Herbert and Lorna Hurd.  They desire to support students, who play instruments in one or more of ÐãÉ«¶ÌÊÓƵ’s bands and need financial assistance.

This scholarship shall be awarded to one or more students who play in a band at ÐãÉ«¶ÌÊÓƵ.  First preference is for students who play the French horn, and then other instruments may be considered.  Students must have financial need, convey a desire to earn a degree in four years, and have a GPA of at least 2.75 that is maintained throughout their studies.

Candidates will be identified by School of Music faculty and shared with the donors for review and selection.  Each candidate’s information should include a brief statement about their future plans related to instrumental music.
