The George W. Mathews Scholarship Fund was established in 1964 by George W. Mathews with income used to provide scholarships to students demonstrating ability, potential, and need. The number of scholarships, recipients, and the amount of aid are determined each year by the University Scholarship Committee, with an equal amount going to the University’s current operating fund.
