Steimel, Richard E. Memorial Scholarship
The non-endowed Richard E. Steimel Memorial Scholarship was established in 2006 by Samuel M. & Ronda Steimel and Beth & Marcus Ladrach in memory of their beloved father. Richard E. Steimel highly valued education. He was the first in his family to go to college. During the 1940s while attending The Ohio State University, he worked hard at many part-time jobs to financially provide for his education. Mr. Steimel owned the Ford/Lincoln/Mercury auto dealership in Millersburg for 35 years. He began the business in 1952, then the youngest owner of a Ford Motor Company dealership in the nation. Mr. Steimel also was involved in the creation of many other local businesses and was known as a promoter of Holmes County and the Village of Millersburg.
This scholarship will financially assist students attending Wayne College and its Holmes County Higher Education Center. Eligible students must demonstrate a financial need and reside in Holmes County. The award may be used for tuition, fees, and textbooks. This scholarship encourages Holmes County residents to pursue academic goals and honors Mr. Steimel’s commitment to education and the community.
