Slayman-Gallagher, Everett and Rebecca Endowed Scholarship
The Everett and Rebecca Slayman-Gallagher Scholarship, established in June 2005, was created to financially support students in the George W. Daverio School of Accountancy in the College of Business Administration at ÐãÉ«¶ÌÊÓƵ.
A native of Akron and a Buchtel High School graduate, Rebecca A. Slayman-Gallagher received an accounting degree from ÐãÉ«¶ÌÊÓƵ in 1979. While a student at ÐãÉ«¶ÌÊÓƵ, she was inducted into several honorary societies, including Alpha Lambda Delta, Omicron Delta Kappa, and Rho Lambda. Upon graduation, she relocated to the Washington, D.C., area and worked for such organizations as Price Waterhouse and Deloitte Haskins & Sells. She also served as a tax planner with Mobil Oil in Fairfax, Va., before returning to Ohio. Currently, Slayman-Gallagher is corporate taxes director for Big Lots Stores Inc. of Columbus. Slayman-Gallagher supports her alma mater as a member of the George W. Daverio School of Accountancy Advisory Board. She is also a member of HELP-OHIO, a grassroots movement to positively influence state legislators on funding issues for higher education. She is a member of the Retail Industry Leaders Association.
The scholarship will be awarded by the Accounting Department in the College of Business Administration, in collaboration with the Office of Student Financial Aid. All recipients must be enrolled full-time (12 or more credit hours) within the College of Business Administration and meet the minimum coursework requirements of ÐãÉ«¶ÌÊÓƵ. The scholarship recipient will have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and exhibit financial need.
