The 2024 Department of Marketing NeuroAI Conference aims to bridge the gap between academic research and the business community. This event will feature distinguished academic speakers who will discuss the latest advancements in machine learning and/or neuroscience, focusing on their practical implications for businesses. Research Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the Swanson School of Engineering
Joseph T. Yun serves as the Artificial Intelligence and Innovation Architect at the University of Pittsburgh, where he also holds the position of Research Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the Swanson School of Engineering. His research focuses on building advanced AI and machine learning systems and technologies, with an emphasis on their applications across business and societal contexts. Yun is actively engaged in exploring cutting-edge technologies like blockchain to enhance the practical implementation of AI. Additionally, he is committed to examining the broader societal impacts of these emerging technologies.
Dr. Patrick van Esch, Coastal Carolina University
Associate Professor of Marketing at Coastal Carolina University
Dr Patrick van Esch is an Associate Professor of Marketing at Coastal Carolina University, South Carolina. As an Australian native, and now permanent resident of the United States, he received his Doctor of Business Administration degree from Southern Cross University (Australia) and a Master of Management degree from Charles Sturt University (Australia). Dr vanEsch’s industry experience ranges from sales & marketing, operations, general management and non-profit board positions across Australia, UK, and the US. He has taught business, management, and marketing at universities in Australia, New Zealand, and the United States. Dr van Esch’s pioneering research is at the intersection of artificial intelligence and neuromarketing, his work delves deep into how AI technologies can be leveraged to decode and influence consumer psychology and behavior. Patrick’s research uniquely blends insights from business, marketing, psychology, and sociology, offering a comprehensive understanding of the ethical and societal implications of AI-enabled technologies. A prolific author, Dr van Esch has published extensively in top-tier journals as well as several book chapters that contribute critical perspectives on the responsible use of AI in marketing. Patrick is a founding editor of the journal AI and Ethics and as an educator and mentor, he is dedicated to guiding the next generation of students, scholars, and business professionals, fostering a nuanced understanding of the complexities of AI and its impact on society.
Kieu Wong, iMotions
Director of Academic Research Solutions
Kieu is the Director of Academic Solutions for North America at iMotions A/S, with over 9 years of experience in sales pipeline management and technology sales. She leads efforts to support human behavior researchers by integrating advanced biometric research tools, including eye tracking, facial expression analysis, and other sensors, into a seamless platform. Her work helps streamline data collection and analysis for clients in over 50 countries, enhancing research efficiency and accuracy.
Before iMotions, Kieu held leadership roles in educational technology sales at Luvo, Eduventures, and Pearson North America, focusing on student success and personalized learning solutions. With a marketing and consumer science background from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and over two decades in the workforce, she brings a strategic approach to business development and a passion for driving educational and research advancements.
Dr. Jessica Wilson, iMotions
Director of Product Specialists
Dr. Jessica Wilson received her PhD in neuroscience from Northwestern University in 2015, where her doctoral research focused on Parkinson's disease. She is currently the Director of Product Specialists at iMotions, leading iMotions' global science team and enabling clients to use physiological tools such as eye tracking, skin conductance, and electroencephalography. With 10+ years of research experience at home and abroad and a passion for science communication, she thrives on translating neuroscientific research into new multidisciplinary arenas like education, business, and usability, and has helped build labs in major institutions, including the University of South Florida, University of Alabama, GSK and the US Department of Agriculture. She has been featured on podcasts, including the Brainy Business and Affectiva’s EmotionAI Podcast, given talks at major conferences, including the Neuromarketing World Forum, and holds the Society for Neuroscience’s 2013 Next Generation Award for her contributions to neuroscience education and outreach.
